Advisory re MMSI numbers from the US Federal Communications Commission

An advisory issued by the FCC reminds the industry of the importance of the Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number programed into shipboard communication equipment and more importantly into any Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) onboard a vessel.

Steady growth recorded by MCI for 2015

MCI registered an 11% growth in the fleet last year with 201 new vessels, up from 184 in 2014. The fleet grew from 473 vessels in 2014 to 525 vessels at the end of December.
