Cayman Islands Opens Yacht Registry to International Owners

The Cayman Islands has expanded its list of countries whose citizens and companies may register a yacht with the jurisdiction.

The move demonstrates a shift by the registry to serve a more global market beyond the Red Ensign territories.

The following countries and territories may now register a pleasure craft with the Cayman Islands:

Countries:

Argentina Greece Norway
Australia Hong Kong Panama
Austria Hungary Peoples Republic of China
Bahamas Iceland Poland
Bahrain India Portugal
Barbados Ireland Romania
Belgium Israel Singapore
Brazil Italy Slovakia
Bulgaria Japan Slovenia
Canada Latvia Spain
Cyprus Liechtenstein Sweden
Czech Republic Lithuania Switzerland
Denmark Luxembourg Turkey
Estonia Malta United Arab Emirates
Finland Mexico United Kingdom
France Netherlands United States of America
Germany New Zealand

Territories:

Anguilla Faroe Islands Jersey
Aruba French Guiana Madeira
Azores Gibraltar Martinique
Bermuda Guadeloupe Netherland Antilles
British Virgin Islands Guernsey Marshall Islands
Canary Islands Isle of Man

Given the financial developments in Europe the OGSR will be curious to see whether yacht owners from countries newly able to register with the Cayman Islands will do so.
