Isle of Man Registry Appoints Singapore Business Development Manager

The Isle of Man Ship Registry has appointed consultant Captain Raja Ray as Business Development Officer for its Singapore market.

The flag State reports:

Captain Raja is a highly respected maritime professional who has spent almost twenty years working for the AET as master and then ashore in Singapore and London in HSSE and also as their DPA. His most recent posting was Head of AET's Atlantic fleet in Houston.

Captain Raja has now left AET to start his own consultancy business, Ray Marine Services Pte Ltd., and the Isle of Man has contracted him to promote the Ship Registry to the industry he knows so well in Singapore and Asia.

The Isle of Man Ship Registry has already developed a strong client base in Singapore, with the Asian-controlled tonnage on the register now standing at over 40% of the Island's gross registered tonnage. It has been this growth in tonnage from Asia which has boosted the Isle of Man's position in the world rankings to its current position at number 14 in the world. Captain Raja will visit our clients regularly to ensure their relationship with us continues to develop. He will also visit potential clients in this important maritime centre to promote the advantages of the Isle of Man Ship Registry.

As well as this essential business development, Captain Raja will carry out survey and audit work on behalf of the Ship Registry as we continue to spread our global coverage of surveyors based in important shipping regions who are able to provide survey, audit and certification services.
