Jamaica Simplifies Yacht Tax Structure

Jamaica is enacting policies it hopes will encourage domestic registration and home porting of yachts.

Jamaica has announced plans to replace a set of taxes currently levied on nationally registered yachts with a single, annual fee. Further, registration and inspection fees will be waived for yachts less than 25 feet long for their first two years of registration.

The island hopes these measures will encourage domestic registration and home porting of yachts. Jamaica also will charge a cruising permit fee for foreign-flagged yachts visiting its harbors.
