Lloyd's List Ranks Top Ten Flags of "Last Voyage" Vessels

In a special report on ship recycling Lloyd's List has identified the ten most frequent flags of vessels about to be scrapped.

Half of these flags, including Panama, Liberia, Malta, The Bahamas and the Marshall Islands, rank among the top ten largest states overall, so their presence on this list is, as Lloyd's List states, "unsurprising."

The ten flags are all open registries. Though they vary in quality as measured by indices like the Paris MoU WGB Lists and ICS Flag State performance tables, we remind readers that there is no inherent link between registry type and quality.
