Maritime Labor Convention in Effect

Following months of preparation, the Maritime Labor Convention has entered into force today.

The convention received its 30th ratitication necessary to for implementation one year ago, and so has taken effect. Since then over fifteen additional states and territories have approved the legislation, which consolidates previous labor regulations set forth by the International Labor Organization (ILO), a branch of the United Nations.
