Panama Maritime Authority Attends Sea Asia
The Panama Maritime Authority attended Sea Asia 2013 in Singapore last month.
The flag hosted a joint-exhibit at the conference with the Panama Canal Authority.
Delegates included Alfonso Castillero, Merchant Marine Director, Jose Rogelio Hernandez, Seafarers’ Department Director, AMP Head of Media, Miriam Rodriguez, Julio De la Lastra representing the AMP Board, Jorge Quijano, Panama Canal Administrator, Willys del Valle, President of the Chamber of Shipping.
Castillero said of the event, "It’s an opportunity to network and do business with an estimated 14,000 commercial maritime world leaders and decision makers. With the growing global energy demand, the Asia-Pacific region continues to grow as a global player in the maritime industry. This represents significant opportunities for shipyards, ship owners, charterers, operators, managers and providers of offshore logistics...Panama is responsible for managing more than 9,000 vessels using the national flag, so it is important to use these international arenas to strengthen ties with our customers and market our registry, maintaining its prestige, credibility and trust within this growing industry."
Other flags which participated in the exhibition included Belize, Singapore, Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom. The Marshall Islands was a sponsor for the event.
