Belize

As per International Ship Registries, Belize is an independent country in the Caribbean. The law of Belize is derived from English common law, supplemented by local legislation. These are the incentives for the Belize Ship Registry.

The Belize Registry has established a Designated Office in India known as Central American Maritime Affairs "CAMA Belize." The office was featured last year in the Marex Bulletin:

Deputy Registrar for the Belize flag Erik de Koning met with the Advisor to the Finance Minister Mr. Gian Gandhi last week in Belmopan to discuss the registry's development.

De Koning serves as Managing Director of Hubel Marine, B.V. a Rotterdam based consultancy assisting with registration under the Belize, Panama and St. Kitts and Nevitts flags.

The European Commission has identified Belize, Cambodia and Guinea-Conakry as three registries that "have not made not made credible progress in fulfilling their duties under international law and have failed to improve the situation” after receiving warnings from the EC in 2012 regarding illegal fishing
