Marshall Islands Registry Approaches 100m GT

The Marshall Islands Registry is poised to surpass the 100 million gross tons mark by the end of this year.

International Registries, Inc.'s worldwide business operations officer Theo Xenakoudis quoted the fleet as approximately 95 million gt at the 12th Annual Marine Money Asia Week this week.

Marshall Islands Surpasses 85 Million GT Mark

The Marshall Islands fleet surpassed 85 million gross tons at the end of September.

The world's third-largest registry is growing at a more rapid rate than each of the top two registries, Panama and Liberia.

The flag is benefiting from rising newbuilding deliveries increasing the global fleet size.

Its gross tonnage has risen almost 14% over the past year.
