ILO Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 Update

In light of our entry by Ms. Valdés with respect to the MLC 2006 we took a look at the schedule for the convention coming into force. For August 2014 Belgium, Germany, Ghana, Hungary, Japan, Lithuania, Malaysia and the United Kingdom (including Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar, and Isle of Man).

American Bureau of Shipping Signs First Japanese Vessel

The American Bureau of Shipping signed an agreement with Offshore Japan Corporation earlier this year to class a newbuilding Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel, the first Japanese flagged ship to be classed by the society.

Isle of Man signs contract with Japanese company

The Isle of Man Ship Registry has hired Japanese transportation company Toko Maruraku in an effort to expand its market in Japan.

Toko will serve as agent for the registry in the region, with the authority to issue documents, verify receipts of signed documents, and assist with vessel and mortgage registration.
