The Hong Kong Marine Department is strengthening its safety regulations after receiving criticism from its accident-investigation committee for registering a substandard ship.

WASHINGTON: A number of small shipyards in the U.S. have been granted a total of US$98 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) funds. The 70 grants, awarded through the Maritime Administration's Assistance to Small Shipyards program, will be used to improve shipyards and pay for training programs.
